Thomas (Tom) Maguire

November 27, 1935 — May 22, 2023

Thomas (Tom) Maguire, 87, of West Wyoming died peacefully following a short illness, surrounded by family on Monday, May 22 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

He was born in Wilkes Barre on Nov. 27, 1935, and was a graduate of Saint Nicholas High School in Wilkes Barre.

Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was employed in the food business, and then retired from Sears after working there for twenty years.

He loved watching sports, especially the Yankees, Cowboys, and Celtics. He enjoyed coaching his sons’ Little League teams and being involved with the Cub Scouts. He spent summers at the cottage “up the river” with his extended family and enjoyed playing late-night Pitch games with his bestie Billy. He also liked playing darts and listening to concerts in the family game room with family and friends.

He and his late wife were very involved in raising their grandchildren. With his family, he loved telling jokes, singing songs, and hanging out at the B.R.A.H.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia. Surviving are his sons, Thomas, West Wyoming; Mark and his wife, Deborah, Exeter; James and his wife, Karen, Sea Bright, NJ; daughter, Diane Moran (late James Moran), North Huntingdon; sister, Mary Alice Hoffman (late William Hoffman), West Wyoming; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Catherine, Michael, Morgan, and Sydney.

Thank you to the hospital staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for their kind care over the past several weeks.

A Blessing service will be held Saturday May 27, 2023 at 10am in the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc 504 Wyoming Avenue Wyoming with Father Paul McDonald OSJ, celebrant.

Interment will be in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Friends may call Friday evening May 26, 2023 6-8pm in the funeral home.
