Thomas A. Traver, Jr.

Thomas Augustus Traver, Jr. (Tim), 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 2, 2023. Tim was born on August 11, 1953, to the late Thomas and Hilda (Zacharias) Traver. He was a lifelong resident of Star Hill in Beaumont.

Tim was educated in Tunkhannock Area Schools until he transferred to the West Side Vocational and Technical School to study the electrical trade. Tim graduated near the top of his class in 1971.

After graduation, Tim worked for Kendzor Electric and The Howard Organization before joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW Local 163, of Wilkes-Barre. Tim made a good living and enjoyed working within the Brotherhood throughout Pennsylvania and the Middle Atlantic States for almost 40 years. He was highly respected as a Journeyman and Steward of the trade.

Surviving are Tim’s wife of 50 years, the former Marilyn Derhammer, and their two sons: Thomas A. Traver, III (Kristen) of Beaumont and Jeffrey J. Traver (Robyn) of Hunlock Creek. He is also survived by grandchildren, Sarah, Tommy, and Alyssa Traver; of whom he was especially proud of along with grandpup, Pepper. Tim is survived by his uncle, Harry Zacharias, sister, Jeanne Thomas (Ken). Tim is also survived brother in laws, Bob Derhammer, Bill Derhammer (Millie) and Richard Derhammer (Kathi) as well as sister in laws, Phyllis Barbose, Dorothy Glasscock (Ed), Bev Hoffman (Ron) and numerous cousins, neices and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by mentor William A. Long, brother in laws John Barbose, David Derhammer and Walter Derhammer as well as sister in laws Charlotte Derhammer, Shirley Derhammer and Margie Derhammer.

Funeral Services are being handled by the Nulton Kopcza Funeral Home on Route 309 in Beaumont. Friends may call from 10 AM to noon on Saturday, May 6th. A funeral service will be held at noon on May 6th at the funeral home with Pastor Rocky Bonomo officiating. Interment will be at the Zacharias Family Cemetery in Monroe Township.
