Russell Herron Sr., 73, of Dupont passed away on Monday June 20 at his home.

Born in West Pittston, son of the late Featherstone Herron and Eleanor (Rowlands) Herron. He attended West Pittston Schools and went on to serve his country in the United States Army in the infantry during the Vietnam War. He was awarded many medals including, the national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, Vietnam campaign medal, combat infantryman badge, and marksmanship badge (rifle). Russell was employed as a truck driver for TRL and Herron Transportation. He enjoyed feeding animals and researching Genealogy on the computer in his free time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy and Debbie and daughter-in-law Jennifer Herron.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Youells, his children; Tina Slatcoff of West Wyoming, Debbie Robinson and husband Ron of Dupont, Russell Herron of Wyoming, and Billy Herron of Dupont. Also surviving are his brothers Ronny Herron and wife Prudie of Florida, and Ricky Davis and wife Jackie of Wyoming. He will be missed by his 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Friday at 11 am, June 24 in the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Rev. Laura Lewis Emmett, officiating.

Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas.
