MICHELE A. BELCASTRO March 6, 1953 - February 15, 2023

Michele A. Belcastro, 69, of Wyoming passed away Wednesday, February 15 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.

She was born in Kingston, daughter of the late James J. Belcastro and the late Rae M. Wrislar. Michele was a 1971 graduate of Wyoming Area High School and a 1975 graduate of Wilkes College. She was an Elementary teacher for more than 30 years in the Wyoming Area school district, and a college board tutor thereafter. She enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Female Golf League playing at Greystone Mountain and Four Seasons Golf Club. She was the head of Teen Action Club OLS., involved in the promotion of the Living Stations of the Cross, and volunteered for Animal Rescues including the SPCA.

Michele is survived by a brother, James K. Belcastro, his wife Judy, and numerous cousins, lots of friends and her beloved feline friend, Sadie.

Sincere, heartfelt thanks go out to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of Manhattan, NY, Lehigh Valley Hospital, East Stroudsburg, PA, and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA for the compassionate care they gave to Michele.

A special thank you to cousin Christine Belcastro and trusted assistant and friend, Erin Ainsworth for the generous acts of kindness that helped brighten Michele’s days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 21, 10:00 AM at St. Monica Parish, 363 W 8th Street, West Wyoming.

All friends and relatives are asked to go directly to church the day of the service.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the donor’s choice of any Animal Rescue Service or Cancer charity.

    I am so saddened to hear of Michele’s passing. Michele and I took every class together at Wilkes. We had some good times together. I was so happy when I got my teaching position at WA. We would then be teaching together. Rest in peace, my friend!

    Dear Elaine and Howard.
    I am so sorry to hear about the passing away of Michele. She went through so much and was coming along but the bad guy won. I’m sure she is resting peacefully and not running to hospitals and receiving treatment. Please accept my sincere condolence.
