Leonard J. Cook, 84, of Dallas passed away Wednesday at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.

Born in Philadelphia, son of the late George Cook and Dorothy Cook MacNeal. He graduated from Collingdale High School and served in the US Navy, submarine division. He worked as a warehouse employee at Scott Paper Company in Chester then in maintenance for the Luzerne County Housing Authority. Leonard was a charter member of the Kingston Twp. Lions Club and served as President and Secretary. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his grandson Matthew Cook.

He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Shales Cook. Children Brian Cook and wife Hope, Upper Darby, David Cook, Ohio, Jeffrey Cook and wife Debbie, Philadelphia, Joann Seibert and husband Bob, Forkston Twp. He will be missed by his grandchildren Hope, Stephanie, and Jeffrey Cook, Robert Seibert and great granddaughter Sophia Cook.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lanning Anselmi and the second-floor nursing staff at the Meadows Nursing Center for their kind, compassionate care.

The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home,504 Wyoming Avenue Wyoming.

Interment will be in Carverton Cemetery, Carverton.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to support the Alzheimer’s Association via his daughter, Joann Seibert’s Team “For the Love of Len and Brian” for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Annual walk.
