Janet Wasson, 86, formerly of West Wyoming, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Highland Park Senior Living, Wilkes-Barre Twp.

She was born in Wyoming in 1936, the daughter of the late Edmund and Eva (Zavacki) Kruszewski.

Janet graduated salutatorian of Wyoming Memorial High School in 1954. She was awarded a full academic scholarship to College Misericordia where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics in 1958 and was a member of Kappa Gamma Pi Honor Society. She earned her Master of Science degree in Advanced Technology from the State University of New York in 1976 and was also a licensed pilot.

Prior to her retirement, Janet was employed as a Systems Engineer at Link Group of General Precision, Binghamton, New York and as a Chemist at Parke-Davis & Company, Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was a member of St. Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert on August 22, 1990, and her sister, Phyllis Bella on June 12, 2022.

Surviving are her nephews, David Bella (Pongpan), Cincinnati, Ohio; Stephen Bella (Audrey), Kingston, Washington; Paul Bella, Wilkes-Barre; Jason Bella (Shari), Exeter; Jeffry Bella (Michelle), Bloomsburg and her niece Evelyn Gaspar (Frank), Stillwater.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Highland Park Senior Living Center for the compassionate and loving care they provided Janet.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 10:30 a.m. from Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, 504 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica’s Parish, 363 West Eighth Street, West Wyoming.

Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Wyoming.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, 504 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Janet’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
