HUGH G. MURPHY, SR, 68, of Monroe Twp., passed away Wednesday at his home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of the late William and Jean (Kasson) Murphy. He was educated in the Lake Lehman schools. Prior to his retirement he was employed with the Boilermakers and was a member of Local #13.

Hugh enjoyed spending time in South Texas hunting and fishing with friends and family.

Preceding him in death besides his parents are brothers Shawn and William Murphy, David McClintock sister Roberta Budzak.

Surviving is his wife of 47 years the former Sherry Zacharias; children; Jean Marie Azaravich and her husband Leonard, Springville; Hugh Murphy Jr. and his wife Leah, Harpursville, NY; Hugh Murphy III. Monroe Twp.;13 grandchildren; brother; Randy Murphy and his wife Julie, Noxen; sisters; Lori Thomas and her husband Ken, Noxen; Shannon Pates and her husband Richard, Beaverdam Va.; Amber Murphy of Noxen; nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday July 6, 2022, at 11am in the Nulton Kopcza Funeral Home 5749 SR 309, Beaumont, Monroe Twp., with the Rev. Rick Wormer of the Tunkhannock Assembly of God officiating.

Interment will be in the Zacharias Family Cemetery, Monroe Twp.
