Donald A. Saunders, Jr, 92, of West Wyoming passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home.
He was born in West Wyoming, son of the late Donald A. Saunders, Sr and Elizabeth (Gardner) Saunders. Donald was a graduate of West Wyoming High School, and earned his associates degree from Penn State in Electrical Engineering. He was employed as the Facilities Maintenance Manager for 32 years at the State Correctional Institute in Dallas (Chase). Donald also proudly served his country in the US Naval reserve where he earned the title of Senior Chief (E-8). He was an Auxiliary policeman in West Wyoming, civil defense, a volunteer fireman for West Wyoming Hose Company No. 1, a member of the Rotary Club of Wyoming, and volunteered for the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his wife Helen T. (Atherholt) Saunders and his son Bruce Saunders.
Surviving are his daughters: Diane Sue McDonald of Franklin Twp, Helene Ann Lord (Jason) of Plymouth, son: Ricky Saunders (Cathy) of Mt. Zion, sisters: Joyce Stocker of Mt. Zion, Barbara Welliver of Lompoc, CA, Rita Finn of Colorado Springs, CO, Sandra Keator of Courtdale, Cheryl Cavaleri of Trucksville, Karen Henry of Beach Lake, NY, Dawn Moyer of Mountaintop, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral service will be Friday, February 17 at 10:00 am from Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Rev. Cheryl Cavaleri, officiant.
Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton.
Friends may call Thursday, February 16 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Funeral Home.
