David A. Schwick, 74, of Hop Bottom passed away on Tuesday, March 29 at Geisinger CMC Hospital, Scranton.

Born in Hazleton, son of the late Leo Schwick and Margaret Farkus Schwick. David was a 1965 graduate of West Hazleton High School and attended Kodak Photography School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for four years. He was employed as a Police Officer in West Hazleton, Harrisburg and Tobyhanna; a locksmith for Frank’s Lock and Kingston Lock and he was a Top-Secret Material Handler for the US Army. In his leisure time “Dr Dave” played the guitar with the Little Rock Band. Dave was a member of the VFW (Lenox) #8488 post, and the F.O.P.-Hazleton Lodge #18.

He is survived by his best friend/wife of 36 years, Janet Klein, his children Selene (Brian) Karolchik of Harvey’s Lake, Margaret Schwick and Ben Stevens of Swoyersville and his sister Monica (Eddie) Surfield of Hometown. He will be missed by his grandson Devante Schwick and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Sunday, April 3, at 5:00 PM from Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Interment will be Thursday April 7, 2022 at 11:30am in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation or Freedom Service Dogs of America.

    Janet and family, I am sorry for your loss. Worked with Dave, (Schwicky as we called him), for a few years at TYAD. What came to mind when thinking of him was his love for his wife, his family, cowboy boots and horses. He was a decent man and may he rest in peace.

    Sorry for your loss. Dave helped get me out of a jam or two back in his PD days. He was the one that suggested I go in the military for a change of scenery. I took his advice and retired after 20 years in 1995. I appreciate his suggestion more than you can imagine. Thanks for being there for me cuz! Prayers to the family.
