Catherine (Carey) Williams

July 17, 1941 — August 29, 2021

Catherine (Carey) Williams, 80, of Mt Zion Road, Exeter Township passed away peacefully on August 29th, with her son and daughter at her side.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Carey (Degnan). She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ronald Williams Sr. Also by her brothers David, William, Joseph, Robert and Edward Carey and her sister, Margaret Gatusky.
Surviving are her grandson, Hunter Daffin; daughter Kathleen (Williams) and her husband, Thomas Daffin, Mantua NJ, her son, Ronald Williams Jr. and his fiancé Samantha Blinn of Bethlehem, PA. Her brother, Richard Carey and his wife Rita, Wilkes-Barre PA. Her memory will be cherished by countless nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Catherine shared 48 years of marriage with her husband, Ron Williams Sr. before his death in December of 2015. They met when he was a patient of hers at Nesbitt Hospital in Kingston PA. Catherine graduated from Nesbitt’s nursing school after attending Coughlin High School.
Catherine spent her life loving and caring for individuals. From a career in nursing at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital and General Hospital that spanned more than 40 years to a lifetime of opening her home and her heart to everyone around her. In her last moments, she recollected how very much she loved her family and friends.
Catherine had been living in Mantua, NJ for the last 3 years with her daughter, Kathleen, her son-in-law, Thomas Daffin, and her beloved grandson Hunter. After her husband passed in December of 2015, Catherine’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandson. She was his “B” and he was her entire world. She loved reading, doing crafts, and curling up to watch a movie together. Hunter adored his “B” and would tell her countless stories, amuse her with his antics, and they shared many special moments and memories together.
In addition to being a beloved Mom, Grandmother, Wife, Aunt, and friend, Catherine was an avid gardener and was amazing with crafts and especially quilting. Many people have quilts that she hand-sewn for them for everything from the arrival of a new baby to “just because” she was thinking of someone and wanted to brighten their days. She was also a notorious “junker” and antique collector and spent many an hour browsing yard sales, flea markets, and craft fairs. She lovingly and cheerfully decorated her home for every holiday and hosted countless parties and celebrations including large Sunday brunches “just because”.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of the many people that she has touched during her 80 years of life and her legacy of love, kindness and generosity will long outlast her. For years, she had a cartoon on her fridge of God standing on a cloud looking down at the earth…and the quote was “I didn’t mean for you to take it so seriously”. In the end, she recollected this cartoon and told us to love one another. The wisdom shared from a lifetime of love.
