Carol Ann (Mizin) Leoni November 16, 1948 - January 30, 2022

Carol Ann (Mizin) Leoni, 73, formerly of West Wyoming, passed away peacefully on January 30 at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of Olga (Bunevich) Mizin and the late John Mizin. She was a graduate of West Wyoming High School and Nesbitt Hospital School of Nursing and worked for many years compassionately caring for elderly patients as a registered nurse.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Geno Leoni; her children Christine Metcalf and husband Robert of Virginia, Gina Becerra and husband Ramon of Indiana, and Gino Leoni and wife Maureen of Arizona; brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. She will be especially missed by her grandchildren John and Silvia Metcalf.

Carol was formerly a member of St. Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming, and found fellowship in a spiritual community after she moved to Indiana. She loved music and daisies, spending time with her family and friends, and being “Grammie” to her grandchildren and grand dogs.

A blessing service will be held on Monday, February 7, at 11 a.m. in the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Wyoming, with Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish officiating.

Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, at the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Wyoming.

The family would like to thank Visiting Nurses of Fort Wayne and all of the Golden Years Homestead nurses and aides for the wonderful care they provided during the final stages of Carol’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Penn FTD Center (https://www.med.upenn.edu/ftd/), which provides research, care, and support for early-onset frontotemporal degeneration spectrum disorders, or to the West Wyoming Fire Department.

I am saddened by the loss of Carol. Mrs. Leoni was a wonderful person. She was always there throughout our childhood. I remember her at mini football and cheer, church, parades and bazaars. She was a second mother to Andrea. The last time I saw her was at my wedding. She had a wonderful time. I remember her always smiling. She loved her family deeply and was so proud of her children. Keep all of your memories of her close in your hearts. I know she has not had it easy and either has the family. She is at peace now. Love to you all Tina Turkson Davidoff

My deepest condolences to the Leoni family. I knew Carol all through school and graduated with her from West Wyoming High School. We spent many Mondays after school going to catechism lessons at St. Joseph’s Church In Wyoming. We had so much fun together. We met about 10 or 12 years ago at my aunts’s funeral. We spent a lot of time catching up. She was so proud of her family. We both agreed that it was important to live each day to the fullest. She was a wonderful person.
