Shirley Randazzo (Steiner) VanTassel, a retired secretary from the City of Daytona Beach passed away on September 25, 2023, in Daytona Beach, FL. Formerly from West Wyoming, she was born June 5, 1939, to John and Genevieve Jackson Randazzo. Shirley was their oldest daughter. She attended West Wyoming schools and graduated as Salutatorian of her Class in 1957 where she was also a cheerleader and Captain of the Cheerleading Squad 1956-57. While living in PA and raising her children, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader in Wyoming, PA and a girls’ softball coach in West Wyoming. After moving to Daytona Beach in 1980, she accepted a position as secretary in the Planning Department for the City of Daytona Beach and later on in the Permits & Licensing Division where she worked until her retirement in October 2004. When not working, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, solving crossword puzzles, and cryptograms; watching her favorite college and pro football teams Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers; and her favorite NASCAR drivers, Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Shirley will be remembered by many West Wyoming High School graduates for planning the first ever All Class Reunion in 2004 that included all the graduating classes at West Wyoming High School from 1934 to 1966. In September 2005, she was honored by the Borough of West Wyoming and the graduates of West Wyoming High School when she was presented with a Proclamation and a Plaque by the Mayor, Joe Herbert, for organizing the reunions that brought hundreds of graduates back to their Alma Mater.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Stanley who passed away in 2011. Shirley will be greatly missed by her children Lynn (Jeff) Bayles, Okeechobee, FL; Robert D. Steiner, Daytona Beach, FL; and Lori Alonzo, Jupiter, FL; and her grandchildren, Jessica Naperski, Daytona Beach, FL; Brad (Vivian) Naperski, Rock Hill, SC; Tyler (Melina) Jonkoping, Sweden; and Morgan Alonzo, Jupiter, FL; and her great grandchildren Carson and Mason Naperski of Rock Hill, SC. She will also be greatly missed by her sisters Carol (Royal) Rambo; Judy (Michael) Waligorski, both of Gilbert, SC; and her brother John (Diane) Randazzo, West Wyoming, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Daytona Beach. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Halifax Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar, Port Orange, FL 32129. Services will be held on November 11th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza funeral home located at 504 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, PA.
