Mary Josephine Brocca
Mary J. Brocca, 93 of Wyoming entered into eternal life on April 14, 2021. She passed away as a result of a stroke suffered on Easter Sunday. Born in Pittston on December 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano (Anthony) and Guiseppina (Josephine Capitano) Volpe and wife of the late Albert W. Brocca. As a young woman Mary moved to Burbank, California and worked in the garment industry. Upon returning home she married the love of her life Al Brocca, a tenor saxophone player who later became the founder of Brocca Construction Co.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother who made unforgettable memories traveling with family and friends. An avid golfer and member of the Fox Hill Country Club, Mary won many tournaments including the FHCC Ladies Club Golf Championship 1981 and 1984.
She was employed at Boscovs for over twenty years. First making homemade pasta and then becoming the hostess for the in-store restaurant until retirement.
Mary was very independent, health conscious and always “kept busy”. She took great pride in the kitchen perfecting her legendary ravioli and meatballs with her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will carry on her traditions. A kind-hearted woman who loved her family unconditionally.
Surviving are her sons David and Susan Brocca, Dino and Anna Maria Brocca, Dale Brocca. Grandchildren David Al Brocca, Nicole Brunner, Albert Brocca, Adina Webb ,Sarah and Dianna Brocca, Louis Brocca. Great grandchildren Ryan and Viviana Webb, Lucas and Lillian Brunner, sister Joanne Volpe Vasil and husband Joseph and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved dog Max and kitty cat, Pumpkin. Mary adored and loved them all and she will be missed more than words can express.
In addition to her parents and husband she has reunited with her brothers Joseph and Samuel Volpe and sisters Carolyn Jugus and Tina Ruggerio.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family from the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc 504 Wyoming Avenue Wyoming.
Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
There will be no calling hours.
