Mary E. Knecht

Mary Edna Knecht, 92, of Wilkes-Barre, beloved mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away on August 21, 2023, at The Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

She was born on October 2, 1930, in Suscon, PA, to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Kossian) Knecht. Mary graduated from Dupont School in 1948, she held several jobs throughout her life including California Flower, Assistant to the Mayor of Lancaster, a legal secretary and as a clerical worker in Probation & Parole, Dade County, Miami, Florida. Outside of her career, Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for sewing and baking.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Bufalino; grandson, Joseph Bufalino; brother, Walter Knecht; and sister, Emma Antal.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pamela Dymond of Harding; sister, Betty Romanczuk and husband Bob of Dupont; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to The Gardens at East Mountain and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their exceptional care and support during Mary’s residence and final days. Their compassion and dedication provided comfort and solace to both Mary and her family.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, and will be at the convenience of the family.
