Judith Chiampi Barone of West Pittston passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024.
Judy was the daughter of the late Joseph (Johns) and Elizabeth Capone Chiampi of Pittston. She was a graduate of St. John’s the Evangelist High School in 1961, Misericordia University in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and the University of Scranton in 1968 with a master’s degree in science.
Judy taught business at North Pocono High School after which she and her husband led and managed their family pharmacy and rental businesses.
Judy developed a rare form of cancer in 2021. She accepted her diagnosis with grace, continuing to work every day as she bravely battled the disease. She was immensely grateful for the medical care of her doctors, Bruce Saidman, M.D. and Michael Rupp, M.D., and the compassion of her many nurses.
Surviving are Judy’s husband of 57 years, Charles James Barone; sister, Elizabeth Lawrence and husband, Gary, of Concord, Calif.; daughters, Elizabeth Moyer and her husband, Robert, of Nuangola and Jennifer Charney of West Chester; sons, Charles Barone III and his wife, Kathleen, of Falls and Joseph Barone of Fort Myers, Fla.; granddaughters, Tatiana, Alana, and Dominica Barone and Gianna Charney; grandsons, Patrick Barone and his wife, Jocelyn, and Matthew Charney; sister-in-law, Victoria Verdine, of Frederick, Colo.; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Chiampi Kulick.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 19 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Church of Saint Barbara Parish, 224 Memorial Street in Exeter.
Relatives and friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of mass.
