Joan T. Brunges

Joan T. Brunges, 91, of Carverton, PA, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Miners Mills to the late Julio and Josephine (Toloczko) Barbacci.

Joan was a 1952 graduate of West Wyoming High School. She was the former owner of the West Wyoming Hotel, and was also employed by Voitek TV & Appliance, where she retired from. Joan was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Church.

Joan had a contagious personality and a kind heart. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and close friends. She loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. If Joan was in your presence you were laughing and having a good time. She opened her heart and home to everyone.

Her grandchildren filled her heart with joy. She adored them. She especially loved attending their birthday parties, dance recitals, horse shows and sporting events. She was always there to cheer them on.She loved spending winters in Florida with her sister and going shopping with her nieces. Her family was special to her. Joan lived life to the fullest and gave all that knew her lasting memories that will be cherished forever. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd G. Brunges, her son, Richard Brunges, sister, Marie Voitek, grandson, John Reilly, and nephew Edward Voitek.

She is survived by her sons, Floyd (Jean) Brunges, Julio (Kelly) Brunges, grandchildren, Katie (Connor) Murphy, Karisa Brunges, Chase Brunges, her dear friend, Fred Rice and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, February 1, 2025, from the Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM, St. Francis Cabrini Church, Carverton. 

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4-7 PM at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Interment follows mass at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Joan's name to either Blue Chip Farm, 974 Lockville Rd., Dallas, PA 18612 or St. Francis Cabrini Church, 585 Mount Olivet Rd., Wyoming, PA 18644.
