Dorothy C. Case, 97, of Noxen passed away peacefully Saturday, October 14, in the Meadows Nursing Center. Born in Noxen, July 11, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Violet (Keiper) Ruff. She was a 1944 graduate of Noxen High School and attended Geisinger School of Nursing, Danville, where she received her RN. Dorothy was a devoted and beloved nurse during her career at Geisinger, Tyler Memorial Hospital, Noxen Rural Health Center and St Michael’s School for Boys.
Dorothy married her husband of 51 years, Frederick Case, on October 18, 1947. She was a member of the former St Luke’s Lutheran Church, Noxen and St Luke’s Ladies Society and served as church organist for more than 40 years. During her retirement Dorothy enjoyed nothing more than sitting on her front porch, tending her flowers, reading, joining friends for lunch and visiting family. She was a recent resident at Meadows Manor, Dallas.
Preceding her in death were husband, Frederick, son, Roger Case, grandson, Brandon Case, brother, Albert Ruff and sister, Mildred Cook. Surviving are children; Millie Elgaway, Frederick Case (Pat), Loren Case (Marge), grandchildren; Barbra Ann, Bob, Debbie, Rick, Jennifer, Jason, Jamie, Stephanie and Josh; 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Alice Case; sister, Florence Parker (Steve); sister-in-law, Verna McGinley; brother-in-law, Leland Case; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, at 1pm in the Nulton Funeral Home 5749 SR 309, Beaumont, Monroe Twp.
Interment will follow in the Orcutt Grove Cemetery, Noxen.
