David Delos Burgess, 91, of Harding, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
David was born in Larksville, to the late Eugene and Edna (Crispell) Burgess.
David enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served our country during the Korean Conflict before starting his career in 1982 as a correction guard at Chase State Prison, until his retirement. David served as Lay Leader of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Past Master of the Masons Masonic Valley Lodge 499, and was a member of the Wyoming Valley Art League.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Mark, brother, Eugene Burgess and sister, Nancy Bankus.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Florence Menhennett Burgess, children, Russell (Rose) Burgess of W Wyoming; Dale (Janice) Burgess of Harding; brother, Joe (Terri) Burgess of W Wyoming; grandchildren, Ryan, Jeremy, David, Sean, Jennifer, great-grandchildren, Preston, Bjorn, Kylie, Allyson, Sienna and Lilly.
The Funeral Service for David will be held on Friday, May 31, 11:00 AM at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Pastors Eugene Sperazza and Rev. Carol Coleman officiants.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 30, 5-8 PM at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home, Inc..
Interment follows the Funeral Service on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the West Pittston Cemetery.
